Along with storm number 5 operating in the Central coastal waters and moving towards the eastern sea area of the Gulf of Bac Bo, from October 20, the North will welcome cold air, with mountainous areas reaching 15 degrees Celsius.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, there is currently a cold air mass moving down from the North to the South.

It is forecasted that around October 20, this cold air mass will affect the Northeast region of the North, and then affect the North Central and some areas in the Northwest. Northeasterly winds inland will be strong at level 2-3; along the coastline from Quang Ninh to Thai Binh, due to the combined influence of cold air and the circulation of storm number 5, there will be strong winds at level 6, with gusts of level 7-8.
In the North and North Central regions, the nights and mornings will be cold, and the mountainous areas in the North will be chilly during the night and early morning. In this cold air wave, the lowest temperatures in the North and North Central regions generally range from 19-22 degrees Celsius, while the mountainous areas of the North typically see temperatures of 16-19 degrees Celsius, with some high mountain areas dropping below 15 degrees Celsius.
At sea, from October 20, due to the influence of storm number 5 combined with cold air, there will be strong winds of level 6-7 in the Gulf of Bac Bo (including the islands of Co To and Bach Long Vi), with winds near the center of storm number 5 reaching level 8, gusts of level 10, and waves rising to 3-5 meters, leading to strong sea disturbances.
From the night of October 19 to the night of October 21, there is a possibility of moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rain occurring in the Southern Delta, Northeast region of the North, and North Central provinces.
The prolonged Northeasterly monsoon may cause rising waters and large waves, combined with high tides leading to coastal erosion and flooding in low-lying areas of coastal provinces from Ha Tinh to Quang Nam.
