However, everything changed in 2012 when a road leading down to the beach was created by cutting through the cliffs. Today, that road has somewhat become a tourist attraction but is also the subject of a heated debate.

From the moment the road to Pandawa Beach was inaugurated, it immediately transformed this remote destination into a major tourist hotspot. With vertical cliffs on either side, the road has become a favorite among Instagram users searching for eye-catching photos.
The construction of the Pandawa Coastal Road began in 2011 when bulldozers and excavators started to carve into the limestone landscape. Funded by both the Indonesian government and private investors, it was inaugurated just two years later and immediately impressed both tourists and locals alike.
