The self-driving car tour through the Móng Cái border gate is expected to be implemented from October 30, and Vietnamese customers can travel to Nam Ninh City, China.
This program is part of the plan to promote tourism development between the two countries proposed by the authorities of Móng Cái City and Dong Hung City since March this year, according to the Móng Cái City People's Committee.
Currently, there is no specific information on the number of vehicles or the method of implementation, but it is expected that Chinese customers can drive to Ha Long City (150 km from Móng Cái), while Vietnamese customers can go to Nam Ninh City, 600 km from Móng Cái.
In 2016, self-driving cars from China into Quang Ninh were piloted with limited activities in Móng Cái City. A minimum of 5 vehicles and a maximum of 20 vehicles are allowed to enter at a time. The total number of self-driving cars from China in Vietnam is limited to no more than 100 vehicles per day and a maximum of 3 days between permits.

According to statistics, from June to November 2018, there were 44 tourist groups from China coming to Ha Long by car, totaling 289 vehicles and 988 tourists.
