On the morning of October 26, the OCOP product week and regional specialty products week of 2023 officially opened in Ho Chi Minh City.

This is the first time the OCOP product week and regional specialty products week has been organized in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of provinces and cities from 5 regions that have signed economic and social cooperation agreements with Ho Chi Minh City, including: the Mekong Delta, Southeastern region, Central Highlands, South Central Coast, Northern region, and North Central Coast.
It affirms the role of Ho Chi Minh City as an effective bridge and an important trade promotion channel in the agriculture sector of the regions across the country.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Ngo Minh Chau - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City emphasized: “We hope this event will help introduce and promote trade and facilitate the connection of supply and demand for businesses and production facilities of OCOP products and regional specialties in the provinces, cities belonging to 5 regions and Ho Chi Minh City, to directly reach distribution enterprises and consumers in Ho Chi Minh City and international customers.”

The OCOP product week and regional specialty products week of 2023 has 439 enterprises with nearly 1,200 participating products, of which 716 OCOP products achieve 3 to 5 stars. Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City has 20 enterprises and OCOP entities with 80 products, of which 59 products achieve 3 to 5 stars.
This is an opportunity and condition for OCOP products of farmers to rise and expand further; helping units and businesses effectively connect OCOP products and regional specialties to trade promotion channels in the Ho Chi Minh City market and internationally.
From there, it enhances the product brand value, accelerates the process of building new rural areas, and helps people expand production scale, increase product value added, and improve the material and spiritual lives of farmers in rural areas across the country.
On the other hand, it promotes cooperation in transferring scientific and technological advances in agriculture and rural development; creating opportunities for enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City and provinces to learn about and invest in high-tech agricultural projects, associated with deep processing of specialty agricultural products of the provinces.

Coming from Lao Cai Province, Ms. Vu Thi Tham (Gia Phu Food Processing Cooperative) brought to the event processed products from black pig meat and local buffalo meat. “Through this program, we have the opportunity to introduce the specialty products of our hometown to consumers nationwide, while connecting with distribution channels to expand the consumption market,” said Ms. Tham.

The OCOP product week and regional specialty products week of 2023 will take place over 3 days, from October 27 to 29, 2023, at Le Thi Rieng Cultural Park, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City.
